Drawing skills
The focus of this class is to help you to develop your looking skills while drawing. The course encourages you through a series of exercises and tasks to investigate different ways of drawing and seeing: responsive, observational, analytical, drawing as documentation and drawing as exploration you will be introduced to a wide range of drawing material, and will be encouraged t to develop your own way of seeing and mark making. This would suit confident drawers wanting to hone their drawing skills and equally would be a good starting point for those wishing to develop new skills.
Painting with oils
This class will focus on oil painting techniques, with emphasis on exploring color. The technical aspects of surface preparation, mixing oil paints and using mediums will be covered. Color theory will be explored and there will be opportunity to paint still lives, landscapes and portraits.
Generating ideas
This course gives you practical investigative methods to start the process of generating idea for your own paintings. You will explore ways of using inspirational sources such as drawings, ancient and contemporary sculpture, texts and photographs as a basis for generating ideas There will be several set projects, as well as an independent one. Practical exercises will include drawing from sketches, imagination, photographs, texts, founds objects and real life.
Life Drawing
This class is friendly and informal. There are varied models and a variety of poses lasting from 20 seconds, to two hours. Tuition is available on a one to one basis, there is no prescribed way of drawing its more about developing your own ability, although there is a guided emphasis on different elements of drawing each week, and some references to classical poses and also to those to do with everyday life, however if you wish to work at your own pace without tuition you are free to do so.
